Golden Conure the Queen of Bavaria Conure does makes a spectacular pet that is very beautiful and affectionate. Being quite intelligent makes them easy to tame and train. They can be good talkers, but like many of the Aratinga conures they can also be very loud.

The Queen of Bavaria Conures or Golden Conures are very lively little birds, though in captivity they will rarely fly. Rather they choose to climb about, perform acrobatic maneuvers, and be quite comical. Human companionship is greatly enjoyed and they can be very affectionate. A favorite activity is to chew, so be sure to provide lots of wooden toys to keep them from becoming bored.

This conure does have one bad habit, they are prone to feather plucking, especially the wings and chest. This is possibly due to their high energy needs, and becoming bored in a limited space without enough activity or stimulation. It is recommended that you give them plenty of toys and freedom of movement, as well as plenty of proteins, calcium, and mineral supplements.

Golden conures in the wild normally feast on a varied diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, and grain. Feeding an equally diverse diet is best and will ensure your bird remains healthy. Golden conures are active pets that love to climb, chew, and play. Owners must be diligent to supervise these birds when out of the cage to avoid accidents due to their overwhelming curiosity about the world around them.

Being a conure, these birds are very vocal and can produce loud screams, making them a poor choice for those who live in apartments or condominiums. They can, however, develop a rather extensive vocabulary.

Golden conures are highly intelligent and need plenty of mental stimulation in order to prevent boredom and destructive behavior patterns from setting in. In this regard, it’s slightly more sensitive than many other parrots.

While feather plucking is often a warning you’ll hear with neglected or bored parrots, for golden conures, stress is the leading cause of this self-destructive behavior they seem prone to. It can be prevented with tons of attention and distractions and giving the bird a certain amount of freedom.

Golden conures in general make great pets. They enjoy cuddling and are receptive to multiple people when socialized properly, so they do well with families. Aggression is typically not an issue except when they’re breeding.

Being active birds, golden conures require quite a bit of exercise in order to maintain top physical condition. Those who would like to own a golden conure should make sure that they can spare a minimum of three to four hours a day supervising their bird during out of cage exercise and play time.
